Story
PushPopDesign launched in the fall of 2009, with the goal of creating applications to augment the way people interact with and perceive our world. Early projects included designing and programming applications to produce generative, data-inspired graphics in OpenFrameworks and Processing for the IBM Smarter Planet series of commercials and print advertisements, through Motion Theory. The campaign achieved critical acclaim, which lead to similar opportunities on projects for AT&T, Verizon and Fiat. Around the same time, PushPopDesign was involved in the interaction design for one the first Windows Phone applications, through IconMobile, and also a redesign of the Microsoft Xbox support site, through Blitz Agency. Later interaction design projects included efforts for Google, through LeftFieldLabs; Disney, through The AreaLab; Sencha Animator and Oblong Industries. Many of these projects incorporated ‘creative coding’ explorations for prototyping new experiences with interaction. All the while PushPopDesign has stayed involved with the media creation side, composing music for a Wired Magazine for iPad illustration by Robert Hodgin and creating sound design for Covidien medical devices. Occasional installation projects for artists, such as Electroland and Rachel Mayeri, round out the portfolio.
